Ruth’s Closet

On January 7, 2011, House of Ruth Maryland (HRM) opened Ruth’s Closet in the Valley Village Shopping Center in Owings Mills. Ruth’s Closet, the first social enterprise by House of Ruth Maryland, was an upscale, resale boutique featuring new and gently worn women’s clothing and accessories. All proceeds from Ruth’s Closet supported House of Ruth Maryland’s programs and services for victims of intimate partner violence. The enterprise’s goal was to generate revenue for the programs and services of HRM, to provide the public with an opportunity to purchase fabulous clothing at affordable prices, and, at the same time, provide information about HRM services to individuals who may be in need of help or may know someone who needs our services.

Ruth’s Closet exceeded those goals consistently for more than twelve years and HRM is extremely grateful to the dedicated staff, committed volunteers, and loyal shoppers that made Ruth’s Closet what it was.

In light of that history but also faced with the economics of a post-COVID retail environment, HRM has made the difficult decision to not reopen our Ruth’s Closet store as a retail outlet. This decision was made by staff leadership and the House of Ruth Maryland Board of Directors to best position the Ruth’s Closet Community to support the mission of House of Ruth Maryland. Thank you for your longtime support of Ruth’s Closet.

Please know this is not the “end” of HRM selling great clothing and accessories. How we will be selling will just be different. Please continue to check back on this page and our social media channels for exciting upcoming events including online sales and pop-up shops.

We are still accepting clothing donations. If you’d like to make a clothing donation, please click here to schedule a drop off appointment.
