Bystander Intervention Training

Dates: Thursday, August 11, 2022 from 6:00-7:30 PM EST
Location: Zoom
Training Audience: General Community

A bystander can mean different things in different situations. It can be a person seeing bruises on a colleague or an individual hearing screaming from their neighbor’s house. Bystanders all share one thing in common — they often do not know what to do or say when they see signs of abuse.

Recognizing behaviors that may signal intimate partner violence is a critical first step to taking action to prevent violence. During this training, you’ll learn:

  • Why people choose not to intervene when witnessing cases of intimate partner violence
  • How to develop safe strategies to engage with victims and perpetrators of violence
  • What the Bystander Effect entails
  • Useful bystander intervention strategies you can use in your community
