Audience: Maryland service providers, social workers and other professionals seeking to obtain the Maryland certification for abuse intervention programs
About this training: Abuse intervention is a unique and important part of a coordinated response to intimate partner violence. It’s vital to staff working with abusive partners have the tools to develop and implement effective programs.
During the course, participants will learn:
- How to engage individuals who have used abusive behavior in a change process
- The history and evaluation of abuse intervention work
- An overview of the Maryland State Guidelines for Abuse Intervention Programs
This free training satisfies the Governor’s Office of Crime Prevention, Youth, and Victim Services’ operational guidelines for Maryland abuse intervention providers to complete 30 hours of training specific to working with perpetrators of intimate partner violence. Twenty four category one social work continuing education units will be offered upon completion.
